PET portraits

There are always those family members the whole house seems to revolve around. Feeding times, walking times, where you sit, where you sleep, how late you stay out, whether you travel, what gets your attention first when you walk in the door. I photograph pets for the people who know this love is deep, inconvenient, funny, expensive, eternal, and completely worth it. When they take up so much of your life and your phone gallery, it only makes sense to give them a place on the walls of the house they rule anyway. Something you get stopped by every day, look at every time, and never really get tired of seeing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Outdoor sessions can be fun, but the studio is usually where the magic gets easier to make. No weather watch, no random dogs, no squirrels, no chaos, and far fewer things competing for your pet’s attention. It is a safer, calmer, more controlled space, which makes a real difference when you want portraits that feel finished and intentional. Studio lighting also gives us full control over the look of the final images, – a big part of what creates these fine art, wall-portraits-ready results. When people want artwork, not just cute pictures, a studio session is usually the best choice.

Absolutely not. Most pets are not showing up with a résumé and perfect manners, and we are not expecting them to. Shy, busy, curious, distracted, slightly dramatic, fully unbothered by your plans — none of that disqualifies them. We work with who they actually are, not who they would be in some imaginary obedience-school fantasy. The goal is not to force a performance. The goal is to create portraits that still feel like them, just seen with care, patience, and a trained eye. In a lot of cases, the ones with the biggest personalities end up giving us the most unforgettable images.

Expect us to meet your pet(s) where they are. We do not rush them or expect them to walk in ready to deliver the performance of a lifetime. We let them settle, watch how they move, see what catches their attention, and build the session from there. Some are easy-going from the start, some take a little warming up, and some make it very clear they have their own plans. That is all workable. Plan on bringing water to make sure they are hydrated, their favorite treats (lots of them, they go fast!), a favorite toy to interact with / show off in pictures. If they are used to wearing outfits, their wardrobe is going to be just as important as your own, expecially if you are planning to be in some of the pictures with them! Certain props can help to tell their story in the most compelling way (think sports medals, etc). Make sure you set aside about 3-4 hours on the day of their session. Between taking breaks, catching treats and you two sitting down to pick your favorite images, products and wall portrait options after the session, this time will go fast…

Yes, absolutely. In a lot of cases, those end up being the images people hold onto the hardest. When a dog or cat has inserted themselves into your heart, your routines, your bed, your schedule, and quite possibly your last shred of personal space, it makes perfect sense to be in some of the photographs too. We can keep the focus mostly on your pet, include a few of the two of you together, or make room for both. Feel free to dress up or dress down, match with them, complement each other, or show up in a full cacophony of colors and patterns. Your personality and the affection between you two is what we are after!

Yep. Dogs may be the first thing people think of, but they are not the only ones with a devoted staff and a strong sense of household ownership. We photograph cats, and we are always open to hearing about other animals too. If they matter that much to you, they matter to us. The goal is the same either way: to create something beautiful of the creature who has made themselves part of your life and your home.
